HCA/HealthONE hospitals have supported the Patient Safety Education Program for Residents since the beginning of the program in 2009. All of the residency programs are part of the HealthONE system. Quality improvement directors, risk managers and patient safety officers have partnered with faculty and interns/residents in the reporting of events and resulting system improvements. Lindy Garvin BSN MPA, has provided corporate level leadership and expertise in supporting and helping to shape the program overall.

Lindy GarvinHealth OneLindy Garvin is Vice President of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety for HCA HealthONE, the largest healthcare system in the metro Denver area with more than 8,700 employees and 3,000 affiliated physicians. She received her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Denver, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Colorado and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Denver. Lindy is a Certified Healthcare Risk Manager and is active in state and national quality/ risk and patient safety organizations. She is a seasoned healthcare administrator and has held healthcare and management positions in the Denver Market for the past 33 years.



PSL LogoMick Krantz, Director of Patient Safety

Mick KrantzMick Krantz is the Director of Risk Management and Patient Safety for Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center and Rocky Mountain Hospital Children at P/SL. He received his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Nebraska and spent over twenty years as a Captain in the commercial airline industry flying the McDonald Douglas DC-8, DC-9, Boeing 727, 757 and 767. During this time he was a FAA designated examiner and Standards Captain with responsibilities of Safety, Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Accident Investigation. He now uses this aviation experience to help lead the Patient Safety Committee and the TeamSTEPPS (Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety) program at P/SL.



Rose Medical CenterKatarina Kemper, CPHRM, CPHQ

Kat KemperKatarina Kemper is the Director of Risk Management and Safety at Rose Medical Center.  She is also the facility and patient safety officer.  Katarina has been at Rose since February 2005.   She has been chair of the Patient Safety Committee and Patient Safety Officers team at Rose for the past five years.  Prior to working at Rose she lived in Honolulu Hawaii and worked as a State regulatory investigator with the Regulated Industries Complaint Office (RICO).  Prior to that Katarina worked at Kapiolani Medical Centers in the Quality Department for five years.  She obtained her Bachelors in Criminal Justice with a minor in History.  She became certified in healthcare risk management  (CPHRM) as well as Healthcare quality (CPHQ) in 2008.
